Industrial Designer


The Industrial Designer acts as a collaborator in technical activities and participates in solving technical problems. It contributes to the development and improvement of working methods and procedures.


- Validate and extract technical information
  o Analyze the circuit board schematics to be produced using the drawing reading software
- Make drawings and technical documentation
  o Draw the panel layout drawing using the drawing software (Autocad)
  o If necessary, create a manufacturing estimate
- Validate with the pcb manufacturer that the material meets production standards and norms.

Production support
- Check the list of materials needed to make a product
- Validate and extract technical information
  o Analyze schematics and parts lists of electronic boards using the plan-reading software
  o Validate the tools required for assembly
- Define manufacturing processes
  o Analyze the technical specifications in order to create a suitable stencil for the assembly of electronic boards.
- Make drawings and technical documentation
  o Make drawings of certain special tools
- Validate with the manufacturer that the tool meets the norms and standards of production
  o Request adjustments as required
- Answer technical questions from pcb manufacturers
- Validate and approve final manufacturing drawings

Other responsibilities
- Assist other Varitron sites with tooling drawings
- Participate in start-up reviews to validate tooling requirements for new products and ensure that final drawings are available.
- Maintain tool databases in the tool directory.
- Train colleagues on procedures and working methods

2 to 4 years of relevant experience
DEP or DEC in industrial design or equivalent training
Experience with industrial design software (preferably Autocad)
Bilingualism in French and English, spoken and written
Basic knowledge of Excel
Knowledge in electronic board manufacturing (asset)
Experience in electronic board assembly (asset)
